There are infrequent different fret gauges, which can be fitted according to ape preference. Among these are "jumbo" frets, which have much thicker gauge, allowing for use of a slight vibrato technique from pushing the string down harder and softer. "Scalloped" fretboards, where the wood of the fretboard itself is "scooped out" between the frets allows a impressive vibrato effect. Fine frets, much flatter, allow a very low string-action but require other conditions such as curvature of the neck to be well maintained in composition to avert buzz. Frets worn down from enceinte employment can be replaced or, to a secure extent, re-shaped as Fender Guitar required.
These are the gracile ancestors of the latest classical guitar. They are substantially smaller and extra delicate than the classical guitar, and generate a much quieter sound. The strings are paired in courses as in a concurrent 12 string guitar, but they only have four or five courses of strings rather than six.
